Change the air filter. We recommend putting in a new air filter every few months. This helps your air conditioner cool more efficiently. You may have to replace your filter more frequently if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies.
Remove debris. Leaves, dirt and grass clippings can build up on the outside of your system. This can diminish capacity and diminish airflow. Shrubs and plants near the unit should be kept trimmed back.

Is your central air conditioner…
More than 8 years old? It could be cooling much less efficiently than newer units. A new air conditioner can help you save on your energy bill. And one reasonable monthly payment may be lower than regular fixes for the old one.
More than 15 years old? Repairs are often more expensive and more recurrent. This is due to parts deteriorating and R22 refrigerant being eliminated.
Also known as Freon, this cooling chemical has been deemed one of the worst offenders in ozone deficiency. Modern units are cooled by Puron, which has an ozone depletion rating of zero. It also performed slightly better on energy-efficiency tests than R22.
